Dr Kathy Seddon elected Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales

Wales Cancer Research Centre PPI Research Partner Dr Kathy Seddon has been elected as a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, joining 44 new Fellows recognised for their contributions to research, innovation, leadership and creativity across Wales.

The Learned Society of Wales is the national academy for arts and sciences in Wales, celebrating individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their fields and to Welsh public life.

Kathy’s election reflects her long-standing commitment to leadership, public involvement and community support. As Chair of the Welsh branch of the Churchill Fellowship, she encouraged Fellows to build on their fellowships and support others in applying. As Master of the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales, she established the new role of almoner to provide support for those in need.

She also founded the Royal Society of Arts ‘TaffLab’ scheme, helping young entrepreneurs in the Welsh Valleys to develop their ideas and skills. Kathy currently leads Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) within pan-European project SERENITY which is focused on enabling shared decision making for palliative care patients.
