Wales Cancer Research Centre are excited to launch the Career Starter Award, for highly motivated individuals coming to the end of a PhD, who are driven to pursue an independent research career in an area of cancer research that they are passionate about.

We are pleased to offer 6-12 months of salary and consumables funding for research whereby award holders can produce preliminary data, create models, or develop skills while they prepare and submit applications to secure follow-on funding for themselves.

Interview invitations: 26 August 2025
Interviews: 4 September 2025
Funding start date: October 2025 – February 2026
