On Wednesday 11 June 2025, the Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC) and the Wales Cancer Biobank (WCB) proudly hosted a joint stand at the Advanced Therapies Wales Symposium, held at Swansea University Bay Campus. This third annual symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and patient representatives for a full day of discussions on translating advanced therapies from bench to bedside.
At our stand, the WCRC team engaged attendees from across the spectrum of advanced therapies, showcasing how CReSt research themes are informing and enhancing the development of novel therapeutic strategies. We also highlighted the WCRC’s role in funding promising researchers and supporting cross-Wales collaboration to build a strong cancer research ecosystem.
Alongside WCRC, the Wales Cancer Biobank emphasised their role as one of the UK’s most established cancer biobanks, describing to visitors how their high-quality biological samples and data are essential for advanced therapy development. They also shared insights into their new strategic plan and pathways for researchers to access valuable biospecimens.
The symposium provided an ideal forum to raise awareness of WCRC and the Biobank’s contributions to the advanced therapies landscape in Wales. We connected with academic and industry collaborators, shared plans for resource access, and set the stage for future partnerships. The event underscored our shared commitment to driving research from discovery through to clinical application, placing patients at the heart of innovation.
