The Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC) was delighted to take part in this year’s National Eisteddfod as part of the Cardiff University stand, giving visitors the opportunity to discover more about cancer research taking place across Wales.
Throughout the day, the WCRC team welcomed people of all ages to the stand, where they enjoyed a range of interactive activities designed to spark conversations about science and research. Visitors made colourful animal DNA bracelets, explored virtual reality using our ‘cancer blast’ game and, most importantly, shared their thoughts and hopes for the future of cancer research by decorating our WCRC dragon with their ideas.
The activities provided a fantastic opportunity to talk to members of the public about the vital role that research plays in improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The team had many inspiring conversations with people who were keen to learn more about research taking place in Wales and to discuss what future breakthroughs could mean for patients and their families.
Events such as the National Eisteddfod provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with communities across Wales, answer questions about cancer research and gives us a great opportunity to practice our Welsh!
