WCRC researcher Dr Michelle Edwards is working with the SERENITY team and expert app developers from TodayTomorrow ® to develop the content and design of the CoClarity Decision Support Tool, designed to support shared decision-making for patients who have advanced cancer and can be involved in a decision to stop or continue antithrombotic medication.
In her current role, Dr Edwards leads a usability testing study involving Velindre Voices volunteers. Velindre Voices is a volunteer group that supports patient-centred initiatives by providing crucial insights and feedback to healthcare innovation projects.
These dedicated participants are providing essential feedback on the prototype’s design, usability, and functionality. Their insights will directly inform the next stage of development, ensuring the tool meets the real-world needs of patients and healthcare providers alike.
“The involvement of the Velindre Voices volunteers has been invaluable,” Dr Edwards shared. “Their knowledge and experience of cancer and cancer care services is helping us refine the tool to be both practical and user-friendly. This step is essential to making the tool effective for a wide range of users.”
Following this prototype testing phase, the development team will incorporate volunteer feedback to optimise the development CoClarity tool before it is user tested with patients with cancer who take antithrombotic medication. It will then be further refined and it’s use will be evaluated in the SERENITY Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT). The RCT will assess the tool’s impact on patient outcomes and decision-making processes.
